A dear friend of mine, whose wedding was the reason I went to Venezuela, has just posted this comment on my previous post about the devaluation of the Bolivar:

“Ha yes everything went completely insane. Two 3D movie tickets cost 80 cents, but 400g of salmon will set you back your entire week’s grocery bill, and right now we can’t find cinnamon for love or money (there was loads of it when you were here). Also, women tie maxi pads onto their babies because there are no nappies, but maxi pads are government regulated and they’ve now limited sales to two packs per month per person. It’s fun.”
